River Keepers is coordinating a Winter Solstice Walk to bring some light and cheer to the longest night of the year (December 21). The trail at M.B. Johnson Park in Moorhead will be lit at 5:30 p.m. and glow until 8 p.m. This is a special way to experience the beauty of a riverfront park in December. Pre-registration is not required.
Start your adventure at the small shelter for some goodies while supplies last:
* Hot chocolate will be provided by Nexus-PATH Family Healing.
* Make your own glow in the dark necklace provided by River Keepers.
* Buy a festive headband that lights up to help support the event.Choose the length of your walk as there are various paths from .1 -.9 miles that connect and/or loop. Some people go through more than once!
Other recommendations:
* Please carpool!
* Dress for the weather.
* Wear comfortable walking shoes.
* Walking sticks are good for winter walking but not necessary.
