Storm Drain Marking Program Event

We have a special opportunity to help with our Storm Drain Marking Program during Navy Week (this year Fargo is hosting Navy Week from July 19-23).

Join us Tuesday, July 20 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. near Madison Elementary in Fargo or Thursday, July 22 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. near Oak Grove Park to mark storm drains in our streets and place door hangers that explain the purpose of the project with sailors. We are looking for 8 additional volunteers to assist so please invite your friends, family, coworkers, or organizations. River Keepers will provide supplies and a staff person will be on site to provide training.

To register: email Kim at kimberly@riverkeepers.org or call 701-356-8915.

This project is in partnership with Navy Week. Enjoy the outdoors, help reduce stormwater pollution entering the Red River while getting a chance to learn more about the Navy. #SustaintheRed

Following is more information provided by the organizers of Navy Week:*Navy Weeks are the service’s signature outreach program, designed to give the citizens of Fargo the opportunity to learn about the Navy, its people and its importance to national security and prosperity. “The Navy is excited to reconnect with the people of Fargo, and we are committed to doing so safely and responsibly,” said NAVCO’s director, Cmdr. John Fage. “Our Navy Week in Fargo will allow us to show everyone what their Navy does for them and why having a strong Navy is critical to the American way of life. We are excited to continue connecting with the communities we belong to and serve and are looking forward to a great Navy Week.”*For more information on 2021 Navy Weeks, visit http://outreach.navy.mil. For more information on Fargo Navy Week, visit https://outreach.navy.mil/Navy-Weeks-2021/Fargo/
